The Mission Statement for the Quakertown First Church of the Brethren is to continue the work of Jesus… Peacefully, Simply, Together.

Our Purpose is to:

• Learn about Jesus and His kingdom through Bible Study and Prayer
• Proclaim the Gospel through witness and service to the larger community
• Promote Christian fellowship through worship of Almighty God
• Live in harmony with the basic beliefs of the Church of the Brethren
• Minister to the needs of others
• Nurture and encourage each other in simple Christian living.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Our mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.  Click here to watch a fun video of one of our packing parties. Our Missions Workshops meet every Wednesday to work on OCC shoeboxes.  If you would like to help, there will be people working from 1-9 pm. Come for an hour or two or whatever works for you, just go to the ramp door in the front of the church and follow the signs. All ages and skill levels are welcome, bring a friend – it is super fun!  Snacks are provided and if you are there at dinner we provide a light dinner too.  Any questions please email qtownocc@gmail.com.

Prayer Shawl Ministry: Several church members donate their time and talents to create prayer shawls for others who are experiencing various life challenges.  Each knitter or crocheter prays for the eventual recipient of their shawl while stitching it.  The shawls are then distributed whenever we are made aware of a need.  Each shawl is presented with a ‘prayer for healing’ tag or a ‘prayer for all’ tag, depending on the circumstances of the recipient. Please feel free to contact the church  (phone 215-536-7510 or email QuakertownCOB@gmail.com) if you’d like to be a part of this ministry by creating shawls, donating supplies, or to request a shawl for yourself or someone you know that may be in need of comfort.

CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN MINISTRIES WE SUPPORT:

COBYS Family Services is a Christian agency, affiliated with the Atlantic Northeast District of the Church of the Brethren. Founded in 1979 as a teen foster care program, we originally were named Church of the Brethren Youth Services (COBYS). Over more than a quarter century of service, we have grown into a comprehensive family ministry that now includes adoption and foster care services, counseling, family life education, and a permanency program.

Peter Becker Community: As a continuing care retirement community, Peter Becker provides an environment that empowers residents to remain active and independent, in addition to a full continuum of long-term care that ensures their future. As a not-for-profit community, Peter Becker is focused exclusively on the well-being of the residents.

Every 4th week-end of September, members of the Church of the Brethren gather at the Lebanon County Fairgrounds near Lebanon, Pennsylvania, for a three day effort to raise money for victims of natural and man-made disasters.  This event is supported by the Atlantic Northeast & Southern Pennsylvania  Districts which represent more than 130 Church of the Brethren congregations. While most people gather in the main auditorium, vendors representing broad areas of interest setup their booths to display crafts, foods items, literature, and educational materials. Livestock and agricultural items are sold in outside sheds. Each year our church donates baked goods, theme baskets, and hand-made baby quilts for the auction.
